Not every move fits the mold of a typical do-it-yourself move. Special circumstances require expertise and special handling. That’s why Allegro Movers calls these types of moves ’special moves’ and handles them with care.
Types of Special Moves
When you’re graduating from college, transferring with your job, retiring, shipping a motorcycle, or moving with the military – your circumstances and needs may be a little different than the typical mover. Allegro Movers recognizes this and makes these types of specialty moves more convenient and affordable.
Moving Antiques
We move many antiques for all types of customers, and there’s a reason for that: Allegro Movers personnel are experts at moving antiques.
As experience antique movers, we know that antiques must be handled with skilled, special care. Your items will be padded with paper, wrapped in blankets and then shrink-wrapped for protection before being placed in our moving van and strapped or protected to ensure they arrive just like we found them. Some pieces may also require crating or packaging, which we can also offer.
Air Freight
Air Freight in the United States almost always means deferred air freight — which means that it does not travel by air but by common carrier (a freight truck) for rapid transport to your destination city. Air Freight by real air is extremely expensive and it is usually not used for household goods.
Air freight is often less expensive than blanket-wrap full moving service. If you are moving a small amount of fairly square furniture, this method may save you money.
The skill in sending something by air freight is in the packaging. Handing your precious items over to a freight company to ship loose items is very risky. Unless your shipper is skilled in packaging your items so well that a gorilla can’t hurt them, don’t do it!

Moving Pianos
We’re also experience at moving pianos — in fact, Allegro Movers has been moving pianos for over 3 decades and we’ve moved pianos for customers all over the United States.
Like antiques, pianos must be moved with care, so it pays to make sure your “piano mover” is really a piano mover! Moving pianos requires a special skill. Baby grand pianos on up through concert grand pianos require piano boards and special packing for the hardware. Moving larger pianos also requires more men.
